Chewing Gum Removal

Kingstonfirst works to ensure the Town Centre is clean and pleasant. As part of our work we aim to reduce chewing gum on the pavement.

Keeping public areas clean is essential for making that first good impression.

As part of Kingstonfirst role of Managing Kingston, Kingstonfirst has introduced 15 chewing gum target boards throughout the Town Centre. In 2015, these boards collected 450,000 pieces of gum.

In addition, Kingstonfirst manages the deep cleaning of the pavements within the BID area. This work takes place between May and the end of September. Gum removal is messy, time consuming work, however the results improve the appearance of the town centre and enhance the experience of those who visit Kingston.
