Purple Flag Award

Kingston was one of the first places in the country to be awarded a Purple Flag in 2010.

The scheme, run by the Association of Town and City Management, rewards town and city centres which are well managed at night.

Assessors visit Kingston once a year to check how the town centre operates from early evening to the early hours of the morning. The town centre is judged on factors including attractiveness and appeal, cleanliness, safety and the strength of joined-up working to raise standards.

The scheme which is supported by Kingston's Safer Kingston Partnership, has been awarded Purple Flag status annually since 2010.

The Safer Kingston Partnership

The Safer Kingston Partnership is made up of local public, private and voluntary sector organisations. The Partnership works with residents to identify priorities, target resources and ensure that Kingston remains one of the safest boroughs in London.
