The former public toilet located in Nipper Alley (alongside the King’s Tun) has been transformed into a gallery specialising in contemporary, mixed media and new media art.

Rose Theatre, Kingston
The Rose Theatre is a 900 seat venue in the centre of Kingston. The design of the auditorium took its inspiration from the Elizabethan Rose Theatre, situated on London’s Bankside and has the same lozenge shaped stage, semi-circular seating configuration and pit area, where audiences can sit on cushions to watch performances.

The Rose opened in 2008 and in February 2010, hosted its seventh home-grown production, A Midsummer Night’s Dream with a cast led by Judi Dench. In 2012, Joely Richardson will be gracing the stage in performances of The Lady from the Sea.

Arthur Cotterell Theatre (ACT)
The Arthur Cotterell Theatre opened in 2004 and is based within the Kingston College campus. The theatre is used by students studying at the college and independent theatre groups.

Culture Cafe
The Culture Cafe in the Rose Theatre hosts a free programme of music, events, talks and exhibitions. The Culture Cafe is home to regular jazz performances on the first Tuesday every month at 1.15pm and is fortunate to have one off acoustic sets from local musicians.
