Welcome to Kington upon Thames

Riverside Kingston

Kingston is fortunate to be located on the banks of the picturesque River Thames, the second longest river in the United Kingdom. The river travels through the borough for almost three miles, connecting Kingston to Hampton Court, Richmond and central London.

The river plays an important part in Kingston’s event programme, hosting the annual Kingston Regatta and River Festival. In July 2012 the Olympic Flame will travel through Kingston via the River Thames on the last leg of its journey to the Olympic Stadium, arriving in time for the opening ceremony.

On top of these events, visitors have the opportunity to travel along the river using Kingston’s two river boat companies or alternatively take a leisurely stroll along the Thames Path.

Charter Quay is easily accessible from the Ancient Market Place and has grown to become an idyllic retreat with a range of bars, cafes, restaurants and luxury apartments.
