Creative Youth enables young people to realise their potential through the arts. We allow young people to be involved with innovative, original, ambitious projects and work with artists of the highest quality, often encouraging the artists themselves to take risks and push boundaries within their own work. In close collaboration with key partners, we mentor young individuals, entrepreneurs and organisations by providing artistic, business and strategic support, allowing the next generation of artists to flourish. As well as targeting some of the most vulnerable young people in our community, we also reach out to large and diverse audiences, as demonstrated by our commitment to using public spaces, street arts and digital technology, enabling us to reach new and untapped audiences. Creative Youth celebrates the achievements of young people in the arts worldwide during our International Youth Arts Festival. It showcases the highest quality in a diverse range of youth arts, including theatre, dance, music, visual arts, comedy, circus, carnival and film. Growth over the last 3 years has been phenomenal. In 2009 there were 50 events across 4 venues in Kingston over a 10-day period and featured 450 participants from 40 different participating groups. By 2011 this had grown to more than 230 events across 9 venues in Kingston over an 18-day period and featured 4,000 plus participants from 250 different participat-ing groups. Now in its 4th year, IYAF 2012 is set to be even bigger, brighter and bolder and will run for 23 days from 29th June to 22nd July 2012.
