THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE
On December 10, 1879, Sullivan had written a letter to his mother about a new opera, upon which he was heard at work in New York. "I think it will be a great success, for it is exquisitely funny, and the music is strikingly tuneful and catching." True enough!
The Pirates of Penzance was an immediate hit and takes its place as one of the most popular and loved works of Gilbert and Sullivan today.

OFFICE OF FUTURE HERITAGES
Office of Future Heritages
3rd - 13th June 2010
"The soulless fluorescent lights above clicked into life, noisily extinguishing the dark, a wave of xenon disappearing into the distance. The hum of the lighting competed with the frigid murmur of the air conditioning, its perpetual sterile breath tastelessly feeding invisibly. Through the racks, cupboards, containers and boxes a figure meandered with purpose, hands touching, caressing and lingering on the hieroglyphiced plates, unseeingly noting particulars to be removed and placed outside. Later and elsewhere, others would be able to come, to see that which has been stored and preserved but now presented and judged, to be given its place beyond. It is now that he must wait expectantly even though his presence is not required. For it will all continue without him. But still he waits, for change, as all around changes take their own place."
Exhibiting artists are Beard & Ferguson, Patrick Blower, Marcel Du Chump, Dave Loder, Kate Renwick, Tristan Rogers, Sophie Mayer, Chris Thompson, Elliott Walker and is curated by Dave Loder.
The exhibition opens Wednesday 2nd June at 6pm and the private view is open to the public. The show continues until the 13th June.
