SPONSORED BED PUSH
To raise funds, members of the Trust, mostly heart patients, push a bed complete with patient around Kingston town centre, and hopefully the public make donations.
The event is held annually on the first Saturday in September from 1 pm to 3pm. All money collected on the day, and sponsorship money, is used to purchase cardiac equipment for Kingston hospital.
Briefly, the Kingston Cardiac Support Trust was formed in 1991 by Dr Culling, the senior cardiac consultant at Kingston Hospital, and four former patients, three of whom had undergone heart by-pass operations. The Trust provides an independent mechanism for raising funds, receiving donations, and handling monies for the provision of specialist equipment for the Cardiology Department at Kingston Hospital.
