This July is Independent Retailers Month in Kingston, where the bustling town centre will be celebrating its admired local businesses. As the third ranking retail hub in London, the thriving area is well-known for its big city offer, yet the town centre is also home to many independent stores whose personalities and rich history add to the market-town charm.
From the 30th June to 1st July, Kingston First, the Business Improvement District, will host an independents pop-up market in Ancient Market Place, shining the spotlight on some of the best independents on offer. There are plenty of hidden gems to discover on the doorstep: from the New Orleans street food served in Poor Boys, to 7000 Jars of Beer, Kingston’s first craft beer shop, and Seriously Sofas, a made-to-order sofa specialist run by local husband and wife duo.
Head down to the market to get a taste of some of the best loved independents, plus pick up your Independent Business Directory which includes a booklet of vouchers from a number of the businesses taking part.
Kirsten Henly, Chief Executive of Kingston First, commented: “Our independent retailers bring a unique, dynamic edge to the town centre and we’re delighted to celebrate their fantastic offering throughout the month of July, together with our local community and visitors to Kingston.”
