The sixth annual Kingston Business Excellence Awards in association with Willmott Dixon, launched in style with an inspirational launch reception at historic Warren House.

Organised in partnership with the Royal Borough of Kingston, Kingston Chamber of Commerce and Kingston First, the awards celebrate the successes and achievements of the Royal Borough’s vibrant businesses.

Guests at the launch heard more details about this year’s 12 updated awards categories (full list below), which are FREE and easy to enter online at

They also heard inspirational speeches from the borough’s business leaders, who urged local companies to enter the 2018 awards programme. Welcoming businesses to the reception, Kirsten Henly, Chief Executive of Kingston First, said: “Year after year, these awards have been a fantastic platform for the best of the borough’s businesses and the teams and people that drive and develop them. We’re proud to be a founding partner of the Kingston Business Excellence Awards and to see them continue to attract a strong calibre of entries and interest across a range of sectors and sizes of organisation in Kingston.”

Rosie Miller, Sales and Marketing Manager with Headline Sponsor, Willmott Dixon, said: “Being able to support these awards is really important to Willmott Dixon because as a local company we are keen to put something back into the Kingston community.  We are currently working with Kingston Council and also have a big presence in the town as we deliver the Town House at Kingston University, so these awards are a good opportunity for us to back local businesses in celebrating their achievements and their people. We hope as many as possible will enter as it’s a great way to get recognition.”

Thanking all the 2018 awards sponsors, Shabnam Ali, Group Manager, Regeneration and Internationalism, Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames, added: “Kingston is a great place to do business and we really value our business community here. The council is committed to growing the borough’s economy and to growing its businesses, so that they continue to thrive, grow and develop. We hope as many of the borough’s businesses as possible participate in this year’s Kingston Business Excellence Awards. This is a great event - if you enter, you will have lots of fun in the process, and if you win there are great opportunities for the promotion and marketing of your business.”

Jerry Irving, Chief Executive Officer, Kingston Chamber of Commerce announced that following the success of last year’s event, the 2018 Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Thursday 11th October, will once again be held at Ravens Ait, a luxury island venue on the River Thames at Kingston. He said: “The Kingston Business Excellence Awards celebrate what is truly excellent about business in the borough and are a fantastic way of doing this. The Awards are now in their sixth year and the Chamber of Commerce is delighted that so many of its members have been awarded for their achievements in the past. The competition is, of course, open to all Kingston businesses and I encourage as many as possible to get involved, as either sponsors or entrants”.

The closing date for entries is 5 pm, on Friday 22nd June.  Following a rigorous and impartial judging and shortlisting process, the winners will be exclusively announced at the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony.  The premier award, The Kingston Business of the Year, will be chosen from all of the shortlisted companies.

Christopher Hirsch, Managing Partner of the 2017 Best Business for Staff Training and Development, Holland Hahn and Wills, said winning had been hugely positive for his company and he urged businesses in the borough to enter.   Chris added: “There were three main advantages to winning, which made entering the awards worthwhile. Firstly, you get an enormous amount of publicity, which is wonderful. Next, going through the application process makes you realise where your strengths and weaknesses as a company lie. Finally, it gives your staff a boost, because they like being part of a winning team.”

The awards are proudly sponsored by the Royal Borough of Kingston, Kingston Chamber of Commerce, Kingston First, CNM Estates, McDonald's Kingston trading as MJ Restaurants, and headline sponsor Willmott Dixon.
