Safety & Crime Reduction Initiatives

Providing a safe, resilient and welcoming environment is a major part of what we do. Working together with members and key partners, we aim to maintain Kingston’s status as one of London’s safest boroughs.

Town Centre Safety Partnerships

We work with the Police and Kingston Council to help tackle crime and disorder; making Kingston a safer place to visit and work in.

We organise police drop ins for businesses. If you would like the police to drop in to your business please email info@kingstonfirst.co.uk.

Radiolink System

Our Radiolink system connects you directly with CCTV and businesses within the town centre. The scheme is available to all Kingston First members and is primarily used to address business crime issues, while providing additional security support to employees.

Investing in public spaces

We continue to invest in Kingston’s public spaces, working on several projects to create warm and welcoming spaces within the town centre.

We are working on two major projects with Kingston Council to reimagine and redesign Eagle Brewery Wharf & Memorial Garden to create spaces where local residents, visitors and businesses can unwind, enjoy and connect with nature.

The Eagle Brewery Wharf project will create a new play trail, accessible public seating, new lighting and metal railings along the riverfront, as well as plant new trees. Transforming it into a place where everyone can unwind, enjoy and connect with nature.

The space is on track to open for Summer 2025.

Arts & culture

Bringing arts and culture to the Town Centre is vital to creating a vibrant town and driving footfall. We work with local artists and organisations to make this a reality, from street art to trails.

We have brought numerous pieces of street art to life throughout the town centre on hoardings and buildings around the town centre, creating points of interest and improving the look and feel of un-loved areas throughout the town.

In partnership with Wild in Art and Walker Books, we brought ten unique bear sculptures to Kingston town centre in summer 2024. They were based on Michael Rosen’s iconic children’s book ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, and generated huge interest, with 250K people reached through our campaign on social media.

Following the incredible success of the ‘ Chimps are Family’ trail in 2023, internationally acclaimed artists Gillie & Marc have transformed the town centre again, with their latest public art exhibition, featuring nine stunning wildlife-inspired sculptures.

Vibrant streets

Clean, vibrant streets are key not only in positioning Kingston as a must-visit destination, but also for the wellbeing of residents working in the town. We run initiatives that ensure streets are kept attractive and welcoming for visitors and locals alike.

On a monthly basis we deliver a deep clean of Kingston’s streets. We also invest in seasonal planting – last year alone, we installed over two hundred floral displays and hanging baskets across Kingston, creating a verdant and inviting streetscape.

We also remove graffiti from our members businesses. Please get in touch if you would like us to remove graffiti from your business and we will include it in our monthly clean.

Christmas in Kingston

Every year we invest in the Christmas lights, tree, and decorations in the town. And we run Kingston’s much-loved Christmas market—making sure it keeps its title as one of London’s best.
